JAKARTA - Waze, Google's navigation app now has launched a new capability that allows electric vehicle (EV) drivers to easily find charging stations around them.

'Finding charging stations for your electric vehicles is much easier. Starting today, you can enter electric vehicle (EV) and plug-in types into the Waze app to find relevant EV charging stations along your route,' the company wrote in its blog.

Charging station information is often inaccurate, making motorists spend time going there and seeing its availability. Through this feature, Waze will now add some information about charging stations, including crowdsourced info that can be updated in real-time by its users.

"By adding the latest EV charging information to the Waze map, it's easier to charge your car and get help finding where or when you'll find the next station," Waze continued.

This Waze feature will provide EV drivers to be able to determine what types of EV they use, along with the plug type. After that, the app will be able to show compatible chargers in the local area and along the programmed route.

Waze is committed to simplifying and facilitating access for electric vehicle drivers to charge your vehicle. Whether you are preparing for a long summer land trip or across the city to watch football games, you can rest assured that Waze will help you find charging stations along the way," the announcement concluded.

However, this feature has now been shown on the Waze app for some users in only a few regions. Waze promised to launch it globally in the coming weeks.
