JAKARTA - Baidu's self-driving unit plans to operate 200 fully driverless or fully driverless vehicles in China by 2023.
With this plan, the Chinese technology giant hopes to create the world's largest unmanned car operations service area.
According to figures shared on Twitter, Baidu is one of the first Chinese companies to explore autonomous driving technology, with more than 40 million cumulative kilometers of L4 autonomous driving testing to date.

Citing Cnevpost, last November 29 Baidu announced plans to upgrade Apollo operations by 2023, with unmanned autonomous driving operations in more areas.
Baidu will also build the world's largest driverless robotaxi service area by 2023, and maintain its growth momentum as the world's largest robotaxi provider.
Currently, the Apollo Go mobility service platform is providing unmanned services in cities including Beijing, Shenzhen, Wuhan, and Chongqing.
Baidu also previously announced his plans to expand driverless mobility services to 65 cities by 2025 and 100 cities by 2030.
Apollo Go now operates more than 130 square kilometers in Wuhan, covering one million population, the company said, and has doubled its operational coverage area and extended its operating hours toung-23:00 in some areas, Baidu said.
