JAKARTA - SwiftKey's keyboard for iOS has finally received an update from Microsoft after a prolonged drama, this is the first update the app has received for more than a year.

In October, it was discovered Microsoft would stop supporting SwiftKey on iOS. The company removed it from the App Store, and thus prevented it from being downloaded on new devices or installed on iOS and iPadOS.

This caused users to be stuck with Apple's default iOS keyboard, and sparked a lot of protests asking the software giant to return their favorite keyboard apps.

A few weeks ago, Microsoft finally brought SwiftKey back for iOS. However, the recovered version on the App Store does not fully match the standards users expect, as the last update occurred more than a year ago.

To be precise, the previous version of SwiftKey, which was 2.9.2, was launched to users on August 11, 2021. Microsoft assured users they would continue to support the application by presenting updates in the future.

Launching GHacks, Wednesday, December 7, and now, SwiftKey for iOS version 2.9.4 is now available on the App Store. Although the update isn't too big, it's said it's just a bug fix and performance upgrade.

The latest version of SwiftKey is here to fix bugs that prevent users from logging into accounts so users can lose access to their data.

In other words, users can now store all the data in the cloud, which is very useful, especially when using SwiftKEY on more than one device.

Vice President & General Manager of the Office and SwiftKey Product Groups, Mikhau Nath said on Twitter with the keyboard SwiftKey 2.9.4, users can now log into their accounts on the iPad and iPhone.

Although the app is good, it's not as rich as the Android version. That's probably because of the limited API Apple provides for third-party keyboards on iOS.
