JAKARTA – Cardano now supports Ethereum decentralized applications (dApps). This was conveyed through the Milkomeda Foundation's official blog post on Monday, March 28. Milkomeda has announced the launch of C1, an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible sidechain that connects directly to the Cardano blockchain.

The sidechain is a separate blockchain that runs in parallel with the Ethereum network and operates independently. It has its own consensus algorithm (e.g. proof-of-authority, Delegated proof-of-stake, Byzantine fault tolerance). It is connected to the network by a two-way bridge.

Users can now easily move assets between the two blockchains. It makes it possible to run Ethereum based dApps. This is achieved with wrapped smart contract technology, pioneered by Milkomeda.

“Milkomeda C1 enables Ethereum dApps to be deployed in the Cardano ecosystem. This marks an important moment, as many of the most tested and audited smart contracts in the crypto space are now open for use by Cardano users," Milkomeda said in a statement.

Getting Support from Charles Hoskinson

Input Output CEO Charles Hoskinson took to Twitter to congratulate DcSpark, a product-based blockchain company that is a core contributor to the Milkomeda protocol. The man described the launch of the C1 layer-2 solution as a “great development” for Cardano.

Reporting from U.Today, in February, the Milkomeda Foundation announced a partnership with an interoperability protocol to enable easy bridging of assets from the Ethereum network. The bridge between Cardano and Ethereum then launched in testnet mode later that month.

Become a Bullish Token ADA Factor

According to data provided by CoinGecko, the ADA token alone has strengthened more than 33 percent over the past week, outperforming other major altcoins. This is due to the launch of an EVM-compatible layer-2 solution.

The Milkomeda Foundation also announced that the first 10,000 addresses on the waiting list will start interacting with Milkomeda as soon as possible. Meanwhile, the team plans to remove the waiting list "as soon as possible". Furthermore, to be able to use Ethereum assets, users must set up their MetaMask wallet with Milkomeda C1 and move their assets from the Cardano mainnet.
