JAKARTA - Vehicle manufacturers from US Ford announced that electric vehicles can access Tesla Superchargers in US and Canadian regions. The manufacturer is now one of many brands that have access to the charging.

That means more than 15.000 Tesla Supercharger stations available can be accessed by this oval blue logo manufacturer's electric vehicles, such as the Mustang Mach-E and the F-150 Lightning.

"This move will improve the public charging experience by giving our customers more choices and is an important part of our growth as electric vehicle brands," said Jim Farley, CEO of Ford on its official website, Friday, February 1.

In addition, customers can order an adapter so that their electric vehicle has access to Tesla's North American Charging Standard (NACS) connected to the Combined Charging System (CCS) fast charging port standard on all non-Tesla EVs.

Retail customers are entitled to receive a free adapter until 30 June. Then, customers are charged a fee in buying an adapter from the company worth 230 US dollars (worth IDR 3.6 million).

Meanwhile, Ford electric vehicles and Tesla Supercharger networks also received updates through over-the-air that made it easier for cars to access charging at a number of stations as EVs from Tesla.

In the future, manufacturers will start offering their next electric vehicle to have the NACS connector so as to eliminate the adapter's need to be connected to the Tesla Supercharger system.

"I would like to thank Elon and the Tesla team for their close collaboration and Tesla leadership in helping to change the lives of many electric vehicle customers through increasing access to charging," concluded Farley.
