JAKARTA - Lexus successfully closed 2023 with impressive global sales achievements. During that period, the luxury brand under Toyota managed to sell as many as 824,258 vehicles, marking an increase of 132 percent and recording its highest record.

The company said that this growth was due to strong demand, especially in North America and Japan, as well as a steady recovery in parts supply, contributing significantly to increased sales.

Takashi Watanabe, as President of Lexus International, stated that his party will continue to carry out various initiatives and focus on developing Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) cars to meet customer needs for environmentally friendly vehicles.

"We are committed to responding quickly and accurately to customer needs, adapting to changing times, and continuing to strive to create cars that provide joy to our customers," Watanabe said on the brand's official website on Wednesday, January 31.

Of the total sales of Lexus cars worldwide, 47 percent come from the line of environmentally friendly vehicles, such as RX competing in the hybrid market and RZ as battery-based electric vehicles.

The highest sales in 2023 were achieved in the North American market with a total of 355,606 units, an increase of 124 percent. Followed by the Asian region with 236,587 units, an increase of 113 percent from the previous year.

Of the total sales in Asia, 181,411 units came from China, a 103 percent jump, followed by East Asia with 43,930 vehicles, an increase of 165 percent.

In the domestic market, Lexus also recorded strong demand, winning record sales of up to 94,647 units, an increase of 229 percent, with NX and RX models as the series with the most sales.

The European region also recorded brilliant results with sales of 69,202 units. Meanwhile, the Middle East reached 46,472 units, an increase of 160 percent from the previous year.
