JAKARTA - PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM), a distributor and Agent of Honda brand Brand Holder (APM) for Indonesia, has officially announced collaboration with Pertamina Patra Niaga and Pertamina New Renewable Energy (NRE) in an effort to develop the use of electric cars in urban areas.

The ceremony for the inauguration of this partnership was attended by the President Director of PT HPM, Kotaro Shimizu, President Director of Pertamina NRE, Dannif Danusaputro, and President Director of Pertamina Patra Niaga, Riva Siahaan.

In this collaboration, Honda will provide one unit of Honda N-Van EV Prototype, the latest electric vehicle from Honda, to support the mobility of delivery of goods from warehouses to Bright Store units (business units of PT Pertamina Retail and its Pertamina Patra Niaga subsidiary) in Jakarta and its surroundings.

Shimizu stated that the use of the Honda N-Van EV Prototype aims to conduct studies on consumer and infrastructure needs in Indonesia, as part of preparations for the electrification of Honda vehicles in this country.

"The support provided by Pertamina, one of the leading companies in Indonesia, is very much appreciated because their vision is in line with Honda in creating environmentally friendly technology in the future," Shimizu said in a statement on Monday, August 14.

Honda and Pertamina will synergize in utilizing data and experience related to electric vehicles. Important aspects such as battery reliability, recharging process, as well as the performance and convenience of using the Honda N-Van EV Prototype in shipping goods will be the focus in this development.

This collaboration is planned to last for 3 months, where the Honda N-Van EV Prototype will be used for 6 days a week to deliver logistics from Pertamina Retail's warehouse to 14 Bright Store locations in Jakarta and its surroundings.

The results of this study are expected to provide valuable insights for the development of other electric vehicles, particularly in the context of logistics and distribution.

This is the second collaboration between HPM after previously collaborating with the University of Indonesia (UI) in education and electrification technology research. In collaboration with UI, Honda provided a loan of two units of Honda e electric car, one unit of Honda PCX Electric motorcycle, and one unit of power product Honda LiB-AID e500 to support mobility in a learning environment on campus.

In addition, Honda also provides EV charging stations to charge the Honda e battery. They also handed over an environmentally friendly car unit, Honda Brio, as a research tool for UI Engineering students.

This commitment to the environment is also realized by UI through the "UI GreenMetric" program, where this university is actively encouraging reforestation through various environmentally friendly initiatives involving all aspects of campus life.

In line with its global vision, Honda is determined to achieve carbon neutrality in all company products and activities ahead of 2050. They plan to launch 30 new electric vehicle models worldwide by 2030, with a production target of 2 million electric cars annually.
