SaBANG - The Government of Sabang City, Aceh continues to strive to develop the potential for sports tourism destinations (sport tourism) in the Weh Island area, one of which is through Tour De Sabang. The bicycle race was held in the Sabang Marine Festival 2024 series.

"The Sabang City Act is very suitable to be used as a sport tourism," said Acting Mayor of Sabang Reza Fahlevi as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, March 3.

He explained that the collaboration between organizing the De Sabang Tour with the Sabang Marine Festival has become an excellent collaboration to invite tourists to Sabang.

There are 125 cyclists from various provinces in Indonesia who are present on Weh Island to try out the track with a sea and mountain panorama with a distance of 31.9 kilometers to the finish line at the Indonesia Zero Kilometer Monument.

Reza hopes that the Tour De Sabang tourism agenda can continue, and can even become an annual event.

In addition to the Sabang Marine Festival which displays a variety of cultures, he said, Sabang is also very suitable for developing sports competitions such as bicycle racing, swimming and others, which are supported by good arenas and nature.

"The city of Sabang is ready to hold events or matches that are national and international, here we have very beautiful natural facilities and infrastructure coupled with very adequate accommodation, we feel very ready to welcome sports tourism events," he said.

Moreover, he said, Sabang will also be one of the regions that provides competition arenas for several sports at the XXI Aceh-North PON in September 2024.

"We are here very ready to welcome athletes who compete and guests who come at the PON later," said Reza.
