Responding To PT Timah's Corruption Case, Luhut Says It Will Integrate Tins And Nickels Into The System

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan opened his voice regarding the corruption case in the trading system of the Mining Business License (IUP) area of PT Timah Tbk (TINS) which resulted in state losses of Rp271 trillion.

Through his Instagram page, Luhut said, actually the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has launched a Mineral and Coal Information System (SIMBARA) which is used to improve governance in the mineral and coal sectors.

"The plan is that this year nickel and tin will also be integrated into SIMBARA. I deeply regret the practice of tin corruption cases that have occurred this time, considering that we are perfecting SIMBARA so that we are able to integrate all mining data in Indonesia," said Luhut, quoted Thursday, April 4.

Luhut also said that this case was a lesson for the government to immediately complete the digitization of one mineral and coal data.

He believes, if the data related to tin and other mining goods has been integrated into SIMBARA, then the entire governance process starts from the single identity of taxpayers and taxpayers, mining licensing processes, sales plans, sales verification, PNBP payments, as well as exports and transportation or shipments, and foreign exchange export results can be monitored in real time by across Ministries and Institutions.

Luhut said, with SIMBARA, governance in Indonesia, which was previously divided, could be more integrated so that there is no overlapping and confusion of information that causes unwanted things to occur, such as tin corruption cases that cause state losses.

"I hope that in the next two months, SIMBARA will soon be updated by entering data related to tin and other commodities, according to directions from President @jokowi regarding the completion of the 'Gov-tech', namely digitization in all sectors of government," wrote Luhut.

Through system integration to SIMBARA, Luhut believes that it is not only efficiency and effectiveness of services that can be achieved, but also state revenues can increase and the most important thing is to prevent corrupt practices that have been rampant in the mining industry sector.
