Sri Mulyani Reminds Her Staff To Maintain Neutrality In Election Year

JAKARTA - Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani reminded her staff to maintain neutrality in the face of political contestation ahead of the 2024 General Election (Pemilu). This was conveyed in a speech at the Working Meeting of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC).

"The Election Year maintains our attitude, neutrality is something that must be done. You can have any preferences to do when you are in the ballot box. That is a value that shows that we as human beings are regulated by law and regulated by manners," he said in his official statement quoted Thursday, January 25, 2024.

Sri Mulyani said that starting in 2024, the world was still faced with various challenges that were not easy. For this reason, reforms and evaluations in customs and excise must continue.

"The Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) in the Ministry of Finance is a state financial manager who has 4 special tasks, namely trade facilities, industrial assistance, community protection, revenue collectors - This must be continuously calibrated," he said.

In addition, Sri Mulyani also appealed to all customs and excise ranks to be able to revive the spirit of leadership, leadership and resilience to be able to deal with the world situation which is so uncertain as a result of strengthening geopolitical tension.

At the same time, Sri Mulyani said that Indonesia's climate change, digitalization, and demographic growth were also issues that needed mutual attention. Mainly in this case, Indonesia's journey to get out of the trap of middle income trap countries, towards advanced Indonesia.

Sri Mulyani said that all levels of DJBC can always improve synergy, collaboration, support, and trust between units within the ministry of finance and other institutions, as well as be able to manage their resources properly.
