IKN Authority Implements Waste Management Via Circular Economy

The Capital Archipelago Authority (OIKN) applies waste and waste management through a circular economy in order to improve the community's economy.

"For some solid and liquid waste that has been formed, it will be recycled using several technologies that have been introduced or with the concept of circular economy (circular economy). With a circular economy, we can use the waste and waste for other needs," said OIKN Green Transformation Director Agus Gunawan as quoted by Antara, Sunday, July 23.

Agus said, on the one hand, there are those who produce waste, so in other places there will definitely be people who need the waste or garbage.

"This is the function of the circular economy, and it will be the ultimate goal to improve the economic level of the surrounding community and have an impact on the national economy," he said.

For information, the circular economy is the concept of maximizing the value of the use of a product and its components repeatedly, so that no resources are wasted.

Waste and waste management at IKN Nusantara will be smarter than other cities.

Before the waste or waste is formed, it has been minimized so that the waste or waste is not formed first.

OIKN is wiser in prevention, so that there will not be much waste formed in IKN.

Agus said most of the waste and waste caused by the possibility of the community in IKN, especially from ASN who live there. Therefore, OIKN will socialize and invite ASN who live in IKN Nusantara to carry out an environmentally friendly lifestyle or green lifestyle.

"That's why it will be homework for us to later socialize to all ASN who are in IKN Nusantara so that they don't cause a lot of waste and waste. The easiest example is that shopping to stores or markets brings their own shopping bags. We will socialize this later to the citizens of IKN Nusantara. Waste and waste management in IKN requires collaboration from all parties, including ASN and residents who live in IKN Nusantara," he said.

Regarding the waste and waste management system at IKN, OIKN cooperates with related institutions and technical services.

"The system that will be built, of course, we will pay attention to several systems that have been built by the relevant ministries or technical services, such as the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (LHK), and the local environmental service so as to enrich in its implementation. OIKN as a new institution needs to cooperate with these institutions," said Agus.
