JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) has realized IDR 85 trillion or 44 percent of the cash exchange target during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1444 Hijri period of IDR 195 trillion.

"As of Thursday, April 6, from IDR 195 trillion, 44 percent or IDR 85 trillion has been realized. So far we have not felt the need to add, because we project that Idul Fitri is still sufficient," said Head of the Bank Indonesia (BI) Money Management Department Marlison Hakim quoting Antara, Sunday, April 9.

BI prepared Rp195 trillion in cash in the period 27 March 2023 to 20 April 2023, an increase of 8.22 percent year on year (yoy) from the realization of Lebaran 2022.

In addition, BI together with banks provided 5,066 money exchange service points this year or an increase of 377 points from 2022.

Marlison explained that the increase in the target and location of the service took into account the situation after the lifting of the implementation of restrictions on community activities (PPKM), improving economic growth, and increasing community mobility as the number of travelers increased.

He is optimistic that the circulation of cash during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2023 periods will reach 95 percent of the target, with the peak of circulation approaching the departure of travelers which coincides with the disbursement of holiday allowances (THR).

Especially for holidays, he continued, BI provided a new cash exchange in the GBK East Parking Area on April 8-9, 2023 by preparing five vehicles for around five thousand exchanges per day.

"That's five thousand who register, we are also open to go show. We bring it here every day Rp9.5 billion, on average it runs out, because we also serve some go shows," said Marlison.

BI through BI Peduli Mudik starting next week will add money exchange services on the Jakarta-Cikampek Km 57 Toll Road, Cirebon Rest Area, Tegal Rest Area, and several rest areas to the East Java region.

Then, Rest Area Lampung Toll Road, Rest Area Palembang Toll Road, and Crossing Routes at Merak, Bakauheni, Ketapang, and Gilimanuk Ports.

For exchange services in mobile cash, the public is expected to order exchanges first through the PINTAR application, while exchanging on the homecoming route, people do not need to order first through the application.
