JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) as the operator of the South Sumatra (Sumsel) LRT will increase the operating hours of travel to 01.09 WIB specifically on New Year's Eve. This is because on New Year's Eve 2023, people travel to crowded centers in Palembang City.

Head of Public Relations of PT KAI Divre III Palembang, Aida Suryanti, said that PTKAI as the operator of the South Sumatra LRT together with the South Sumatra Light Train Management Center (BPKRSS) made adjustments to operational services during the 2022 Christmas and New Year 2023 Transportation periods specifically on New Year's Eve, Saturday, December 31, 2022.

"The South Sumatra LRT has added travel services to 104 trips or 10 trips from 94 trips on weekdays, until 01.09 WIB on January 1, 2023," Aida told reporters, Friday, December 30.

In addition to adding LRT trips, said Aida, PT KAI Divre III Palembang also prepared officers to support the smooth operation of this New Year's Eve. Officers will be stationed and on the train.

"There are also security officers, cleaning and at the control center ready until the last trip," he said.

For mutual comfort, Aida appealed to all South Sumatra LRT users to remain disciplined following health protocols and rules that apply both on the station and on the train.

As of the end of December 2022, the South Sumatra LRT has carried 3,050 passengers. 665 passengers with an average daily passenger of 8,404 passengers, and it is hoped that in 2023 the South Sumatra LRT passengers will continue to increase along with the increasing desire of the public to use public transportation.
