JAKARTA - PT Adhi Karya has successfully completed the rehabilitation of the carrier irrigation network connected to the water flow from the Tapin Dam National Strategic Project (PSN), in South Kalimantan.

"The length of the rehabilitated channel is 27.73 KM, the budget is Rp. 115.5 billion," said Project Manager PT Adhi Karya Miftah, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, July 20.

The current condition, he said, is that irrigation has been supplied and can be used by farmers who use water.

"The handover will be in December 2021 and the second handover will be in December 2022. The handover is to the Kalimantan III River Basin Center (BWS). Currently in the maintenance phase," he said.

During the construction process, his party involved 400 workers, including local communities around the irrigation construction.

"We involve the local community as a form of labor-intensive program, helping to improve the community's economy in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic," he said.

According to Miftah, during the construction process there were no significant obstacles, apart from the high rainfall in the Tapin area.

"At that time, according to BMKG data, Tapin entered an area of high rainfall above normal. So, the solution to this problem was to use a dewatering pump to handle water when structural work was being carried out," he said.

PT Adhi Karya, he said, the scope of work is the rehabilitation of carrier networks and landscapes as well as an irrigation operation office equipped with an environmentally friendly children's playground, located in Bungur District on the Ahmad Yani axis road.

The technical staff of the Kalimantan III River Basin Center (BWS), Gunadi Anom, said the work for Tapin irrigation was quite satisfactory.

"The work is quite satisfactory and is still under maintenance," he said.

In general, he said, irrigation development for Tapin agriculture when combined with network rehabilitation work carried out by PT Adhi Karya and irrigation development being carried out by PT Waskita now for 2020-2022, the total outcome until the end of 2022 is 4,483.40 hectares.
