GARUT - Two residents of Garut Regency, West Java died as a result of a truck crashing into a madrasah building.

Head of the Public Relations Sub Division of the Garut Police, Muslih Hidayat said that a truck accident crashing into the madrasah at Kampung Harendong Street, Sindanggalih Village, Karangpawitan District, Garut, Friday, April 2 afternoon.

"As a result of this incident two people died", said Muslih as quoted by Antara.

The dead victim was a truck driver with police number Z8229DW named Suhanda (50) and a child named Dede Hidayat (12).

Apart from the death toll, he said, the truck accident injured eight people, mostly children.

"Eight people were injured and vehicles and foundations were damaged", he said.

The accident occurred when a Mitsubishi truck driven by Suhanda came from the direction of Kampung Nangoh to Kampung Haredong with a straight downhill road.

The truck driving downhill was suspected of having braking problems and eventually crashing into the Nurul Barokah Foundation building which is located around the village road.

"While crossing the straight downhill road, it is suspected that the brakes failed and thus crashed into the Nurul Barokah Foundation", continued Muslih.

The Traffic Accident Unit Garut Police immediately carried out the scene after evacuating all injured victims and being taken to the hospital.
