SUKABUMI - Sukabumi City Extortion Sweeping Team (Saber Pungli) arrested a young man suspected of committing extortion against tourists at the Santa Sea Water Park tourist attraction on Jalan Lio Santa, Sukabumi City, West Java.

"We carried out a hand arrest operation (OTT) and succeeded in arresting a young man with the initials NM (34), a resident of Lamping Village, Gedongpanjang Village, Citamiang District, Sukabumi City who was carrying out extortion by quoting illegal parking money to tourists in tourist areas," said Head of the Sukabumi City Pungli Saber Team, Kompol Tahir Muhiddin, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 16.

According to Tahir, the perpetrator admitted to quoting money to tourists as a parking security service, even though what NM did was illegal and did not guarantee the safety of vehicles parked around tourist attractions.

The parking rates charged to tourists range from Rp. 2,000 to Rp. 5,000. In addition, from the hands of this young man, the police also confiscated illegal parking tickets and Rp. 160 thousand in cash from extortion.

To account for his actions, the perpetrator was taken to the Sukabumi City Police Station for questioning regarding the alleged extortion committed by NM, as well as developing this case whether the perpetrator was coordinated or not.

On the other hand, this OTT was carried out by the Sukabumi City Police together with the Sukabumi City BKSDM, the Sukabumi City District Attorney and the Sukabumi City National and Political Unity Service (Kesbangpol).

He also appealed to residents not to take advantage of this Eid holiday to "strengthen" tourists, because the impact is not only detrimental to the morning of the owner or manager of the tourist attraction, but all parties, because tourists are reluctant to return due to the number of extortion and have certainly felt uncomfortable.
