SOUTH KONAWE - The beauty of sea water and coral reefs in Laonti District, South Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province (Sultra) is seen as having an exciting new marine tourism potential.

Therefore, the South Konawe Regency Government continues to encourage the development of the Namu tourism sector in Laonti District as a source of Regional Original Revenue (PAD).

The Regent of South Konawe, Surunuddin Dangga, quoted from ANTARA, Monday, March 15, said that what needs to be done is to revive the cooperation between the government and the community to take advantage of the beauty of the sea in Laonti District as a tourist attraction.

"So the current task of the local government is how to encourage villages that have tourism potential, in order to improve the community's economy by utilizing the village fund budget," said Regent Surunuddin.

The former chairman of the South Kalimantan DPRD also promised to complete the construction and asphalting of road access from East Kolono to Malaringgi village, Laonti District.

The effort was made, said the Regent of Konsel, in order to maximize tourism infrastructure in the Laonti sub-district.

According to him, the area has a myriad of potentials. Whether it's marine tourism potential, with the beauty of sea water and coral reefs. Even Namu Village also has waterfall tourism.

"We have to develop this potential, after I see potential objects, I want to continue the construction of a shoreline bridge from Hamlet I to Hamlet IV of Namu Village. Which visitors can later use as a place for sports, cycling, and taking selfies," he promised.

On the other hand, the former chairman of the Southeast Sulawesi Chamber of Commerce and Industry admitted that he would develop underwater tourism because he saw this potential.

"There are approximately four snorkeling spots that we can develop. This can also be a buffer snorkeling tour of Wakatobi Regency," he explained.

Surunuddin said that the development of tourist villages has several criteria that must be met, such as the fulfillment of attraction aspects, namely tourism activities that can attract tourists, tourism facilities and infrastructure that support tourist activities and services, and accessibility, namely transportation to destinations.

He added that his party asked the Tourism Office and all parties to play an active role in accelerating tourism development for the economic revival of the village community.

"After completing all of that, our job is to promote our tourist attraction so that visitors can come to travel," he said.
