SEMARANG - The condition of vehicle traffic on Jalan Kaligawe Semarang, which is the main route for the North Coast (Pantura) of Central Java on D-2 Lebaran 2024, was observed smoothly after being hit by a flood.

Based on ANTARA's monitoring, Jalan Kaligawe, which leads east to Demak, Kudus, Pati, and so on, looks deserted and there are no flood puddles.

Cars with out-of-town number plates, such as B (Jakarta and its surroundings), D (Bandung), E (Cirebon), S (Bojonegoro), and L (Surabaya) were seen crossing the main route.

Kaligawe Street which leads to the city center is also monitored more easily and there are several flood inundation points, although not too high, as opposite the Sultan Agung Hospital in Semarang.

Acting (Plt) Head of the Semarang City Transportation Service, Danang Kurniawan, explained that the traffic on the main route of Pantura to Demak, Kudus, and Pati was smooth.

"Yesterday in two directions (Kaligawe Street, ed.) there were still puddles. But now it has receded, including on the north side of the Jumdil Qubro Mosque," he said Monday, April 8.

Currently, he said, vehicle traffic on Jalan Kaligawe to the end of the Semarang border has been smooth.

"Now it's smooth and quiet. Yesterday, the traffic was a bit high. Now it's free of Genuk (Semarang City border, ed) is safe," he said.

Meanwhile, Budi (53), a travelers from Surabaya, admitted that he preferred to go through the old Pantura route because he stopped by several relatives.

"He said there was a flood, yes, a bit worried too. But, it turns out that it wasn't (flooded, ed.). It didn't go through the toll road, because I wanted to stop by," he said.

Similarly, Wawan (39), a travelers from Jepara, said that so far his journey from Jakarta has been smooth even though the traffic of vehicles is quite congested.

"Fortunately here (Kaligawe, ed.) it's dry so it can pass here. Because if it's flooded, it can be troublesome to have to go around," he said.
