BPBD Establishes Emergency Tents For Treatment Of Unair Post-Employment Hospital Patients

SURABAYA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Surabaya City, East Java set up a tent to be used as an emergency treatment room in the courtyard of Airlangga University Hospital (Unair), after a magnitude of 6.5 at 130 kilometers northeast of Tuban

"For tents that were established at Unair Hospital as a form of vigilance as well as from the hospital, we have set up tents," said Head of BPBD Surabaya City Agus Hebi Djuniantoro in Surabaya, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, March 22.

He said that currently only one tent measuring 6x12 meters was established, with a maximum capacity of around 12-13 patients.

However, the East Java Province BPBD has also sent additional tents.

"If it's not enough, we'll add it later. There are also tents from the provincial BPBD, then the Social Service (Dinsos) tent is being launched," he said.

The Medical Support Manager of Unair Hospital, Dr. Cahyo Wibisono, said that the placement of patients in the tent was carried out taking into account health conditions.

"Indeed, there are various levels of emergency, the ICU and the incubator are installed, there is a middle emergency, and there are also children's patients," he said.

The total number of patients currently undergoing treatment outside the hospital building, 160 people.

"There are 60 patients from the ICU, 80 adult patients, the rest are children. Then we are preparing services in certain rooms so that medical services run smoothly," he said.

Asked about the damage, his party still could not provide information.

"We still haven't sampled the damage," he said.

As of 21.01 WIB, in the parking area of Unair Hospital there are already two tents belonging to the East Java BPBD and Surabaya City to accommodate patients.

BPBD officers also re-established an additional tent placed in front of the hospital emergency room.

Patients treated at the Unair Hospital in Surabaya were evacuated out of the building after the aftershock with a magnitude of 6.5 at 130 kilometers northeast of Tuban.

After being taken out of the building that afternoon, the patients were placed in the hospital parking area.

The patients who were undergoing the nurse were all placed in the bed along with the IV tube attached to the hand.
