North Sumatra Police Name Suspect For Counterfeiting 2,000 Tons Of Bulog Rice Documents

The North Sumatra Regional Police named a man with the initials AKL as a suspect forger of documents to get as much as 2,000 tons of commercial rice belonging to the local Logistics Affairs Agency (Perum Bulog).

"This document was used by AKL to get 2,000 tons of commercial rice in February 2024," said Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Police, Kombes Hadi Wahyudi in Medan, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, March 4.

The modus operandi of the suspect was to use fake documents from the Parino rice refinery in Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra.

"This Parino rice refinery is a registered partner of Bulog," he said.

Meanwhile, according to Hadi, from the results of the examination by investigators against Parino, he admitted that he did not issue the document.

"So, the document's signature was forged, we are still investigating this," he said.

Based on the investigation, the suspect AKL does not have a company engaged in rice milling, while the procedure for getting the rice must have a rice mill.

After that, the suspect, who is a sugar distributor and rice, distributed the 2,000 tons of rice to the Riau region and to the island of Java.

"Perhaps the person concerned has a market share in Riau and Java Island, finally he brought or distributed the rice," he said.

The suspect was charged with Article 6 paragraph (1) of the Emergency Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 7 of 1955 concerning the investigation, prosecution and trial of economic crimes and or Article 141, Article 143, Article 144 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 18 of 2012 concerning food.

Or Article 62 (1) of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 8 of 1999 concerning consumer protection and or Article 263, Article 266 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55, Article 56 of the Criminal Code.
