JAKARTA - The Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) said that the monitoring of the hilal (rukyatul hilal) at the beginning of Ramadan 1445 Hijri/2024 AD will be held at 134 points spread throughout Indonesia.
"We have decided to hold rukyatul hilal in 134 locations throughout Indonesia," said Director of Islamic Religious Affairs and Sharia Development at the Ministry of Religion Adib, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, February 20.
Previously, the Ministry of Religion would hold monitoring of the hilal for the beginning of Ramadban on Sunday, March 10, 2024, which coincided with 29 Syakban 1445 Hijriah.
Adib said that the rukyatul hilal or monitoring of the hilal will be carried out by the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion and the Ministry of Religion of the Regency/City, in collaboration with the Religious Courts, Islamic organizations, and other agencies in the local area.
"Later on, the trial will determine the beginning of Ramadan by considering initial information based on astronomical or historical calculations, as well as the results of field confirmation through a hilal monitoring mechanism," he said.
