JAKARTA - The General Elections Commission (KPU) admits that it failed to enter data on the Recapitulation Information System (Sirekap) due to human error (humanerror) to system errors.

KPU member Idham Holik explained that the error was caused by a system that read the wrong numerical numbers from the Model C form document for the 2024 Election Results.

"So, for example, the number 3 read 8. For example, the number 2 read 7," said Idham as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, February 19.

Therefore, the KPU through Sirekap operators at the district and city levels must carry out manual accuracy on the wrong input numbers.

During the accuracy process, said Idham, the data displayed in Sirekap was not the latest data.

"Yes Sirekap-nya karena dia sedang diakurasi agar prosesnya menjadi lancar. Maka, untuk sementara, tampuan publiknya masih menggunakan tampilan yang terakhir," jelasnya.

According to Idham, Sirekap's problem continues to be in the spotlight due to massive misinput of data on the votes acquired by pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates.

The error resulted in the inflating of certain candidate pairs' votes, as Sirekap's numerical data displayed a much larger number than what was recorded in Plano's C1 form at the polling station (TPS).

Previously, KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy'arim apologized to the public regarding the controversy in reading the Model C1 Plano Form data or the notes on the vote count results for the 2024 General Election to Sirekap.

"We at the KPU are still human beings who are very likely to be wrong," said Hasyim, Thursday (15/2).

He also ensured that the conversion error would be corrected immediately. According to Hasyim, the KPU should not lie and must convey correct information to the public.
