JAKARTA - An Indonesian student, Alifia Soeryo, was killed by a fallen tree trunk near War Memorial Drive in northern Adelaide, Australia on February 7, 2024.

"Following up on the report, the Indonesian Consulate General in Sydney has coordinated with the local police, including the autopsy process according to local regulations," said Director of Protection for Indonesian Citizens and BHI of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Judha Nugraha as reported by ANTARA, Monday, February 12.

The Indonesian Consulate General has also facilitated communication with the family and coordinated with the company home.

Alifia is an Indonesian student who is currently studying Communication and Media Masters at Adelaide University. He was reportedly resting after running in the park near War Memorial Drive, when a tree trunk weighing 10 tons fell and fell on him.

Australian emergency service officers immediately tried to save him, but the student from Jakarta was killed at the scene.
