Jakarta It's Been Raining Since Morning, BPBD Claims No Flood

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) said there were no flood points in its area even though it had been raining in the capital city since the morning.

"So far (the flood) is still nil from our observations," said Head of the Jakarta BPBD Data and Information Management Unit Michael Sitanggang as reported by ANTARA, Friday, January 19.

In addition, Michael said that a number of floodgates are currently still being monitored. The water level at all floodgates is still normal.

Although there were no floods observed, Michael confirmed that a number of DKI Jakarta BPBD officers had been alerted at flood-prone points in the capital city.

BPBDDKI Jakarta has alerted 267 officers who have been equipped with expertise to evacuate residents in an emergency and are affected by flooding in the DKI Jakarta area.

"Officers have also been provided with the expertise of evacuating residents in an emergency," Michael said some time ago.

He said that a total of 267 disaster management officers or the Rapid Response Team (TRC) served in all flood-prone areas.

The team is tasked with dealing with disasters including floods, conducting education and evacuating residents in the event of flooding in the Jakarta area and carrying out handling and monitoring after the disaster occurred.
