PULANG PISAU - Crocodiles allegedly preying on Nayan (47), a resident of Paduran Sebangau Village, Central Kalimantan, have been caught in a trap set by the Central Kalimantan BKSDA (Nature Conservation Agency).

The crocodile was found caught in a death trap on Friday, February 19 at the Sampang DAS (drainage basin) Sei Sebangau watershed. At this location previously found pieces of the victim's body.

Sebangau Kuala police chief, Ipda Bimo Setiawan said the crocodile was found dead after being trapped by a fishing rod installed by BKSDA.

"At the time the crocodile was removed, the crocodile was already in a dead condition", said Bimo as quoted from the Central Kalimantan Regional Police's PR statement, Saturday, February 20.

After that, a deliberation was held between the head of Paduran Sebangau Village and the BKSDA and the families of the victims.

“The victim's family asked for the crocodile's stomach to be cleaved. After being cut open, there were no pieces of the victim's body that were grabbed by the crocodile. Instead, there was a piece of a pig's head, then the crocodile was buried”, said Bimo.

Bimo said the victim's family was relieved by the discovery of this crocodile even though there was nobody of the victim in the crocodile's stomach.

"We appeal to the public, especially those who are active in the Sei Sebangau River Basin, to be careful and alert and not to disturb the crocodile's habitat in DAS Sei Sebangau", said AKP Bimo.
