14 Houses Damaged By Flash Floods In Humbahas, North Sumatra

The Regent of Humbang Husundutan Regency, Dosmar Banjarnahor, stated that as many as 14 houses were heavily damaged by flash floods and landslides that hit residential areas in Simangulampe Village, Baktiraja District, Humbang Hasundutan Regency, North Sumatra.

"The natural disaster in Simangulempe Village caused 14 houses to be heavily damaged and 11 victims have not been found and one person was found dead," said Dosmar as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, December 2.

Dosmar explained that the flash floods and landslides that occurred on Friday (1/12) were around 21.30, which were triggered by high rainfall with high intensity, causing dozens of houses to be damaged and other infrastructure.

"Hard efforts are still being carried out to search for victims with a number of heavy equipment consisting of two excavators, one loader and one backhoe loader," he said.

His party continues to coordinate with relevant policy makers to ensure and prepare a number of assistance needed by the community.

"About 100 police personnel and 90 TNI personnel and all relevant policy makers are at the location to help the victims," he explained.

Previously, the Medan City National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) stated that one of the 12 people who were missing in the flash floods and landslides in Simangulampe Village, Humbang Husundutan Regency, Friday night, was found dead, Saturday.

Medan City Basarnas Public Relations, Sariman Sitorus, in Medan, Saturday, said the joint SAR team managed to find one of the victims of flash floods and landslides which was 500 meters from the scene.

"At 11.25 WIB, the joint team found one of the victims on behalf of Boru Lubis who was dead in the lake about 500 meters from the location of the flash flood," said Sariman.
