BANTUL - The tornado that hit the Selopamioro Village, Imogiri District, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region resulted in damage to dozens of residents' houses in the area.

Head of Selopamioro Village, Sugeng in Bantul, said dozens of houses damaged by the disaster were scattered in four hamlets namely Kalidadap I, Kalidadap II, and Srunggo I and Srunggo II hamlets.

Based on temporary data collection, there was one house damaged in Kalidadap I Hamlet, then in Kalidadap II Hamlet there were 12 houses, then in Srunggo I Hamlet there were 32 houses, and in Srunggo II Hamlet there were 25 houses.

Most of the damage to houses occurred to roofs or roof tiles, then some houses suffered serious damage due to being hit by trees that collapsed due to the brunt of a tornado.

"The one in Kalidadap II Hamlet is the location of the most severe tornado around Mr. Dakir's house, in the vicinity, there are three houses that are really bad, almost all of them have roof tiles that have fallen to the bottom", he said.

However, he said, there were no casualties as a result of the tornado which was reported to have occurred around 12.40 WIB.

"For the time being there are no fatalities, thank God. And hopefully later there will be no casualties", he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of the Bantul Police, Iptu I Nengah Jeffry Prana Widyana, in his written message confirmed the tornado incident which damaged residents' houses in the Selopamioro area, but there were no reports of casualties.

"There were no casualties in the incident, both serious and minor injuries. Losses were material, roofs were damaged, trees were downed, power lines for street lighting were broken", he said.

Disaster management was carried out by volunteers from the Disaster Risk Reduction Forum (FPRB) of Selopamioro Village, Sriharjo, and assisted by residents.

He also mentioned that the medical team from the Imogiri 1 Community Health Center (Pukesmas) and Imogiri II Health Center were on standby at the scene.
