Police Name 5 Suspects Of Vandalizing Houses In Gresik

GRESIK - The Gresik Resort Police (Polres) and East Java Regional Police have named five suspects for destroying houses in this area from a martial arts college, after securing 42 people for questioning.

"We have secured 42 people for questioning as witnesses. Of that number, 5 people were named suspects. While the rest were returned because they were not proven to have done damage," Gresik Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner M Nur Aziz told reporters, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, November 23.

He said the destruction occurred in Kedung Sumber Village, Balongpanggang District, Gresik, starting when one of the silat colleges made a convoy and crossed the local village highway.

Aziz said the identities of the five suspects were from outside the city of Gresik, and were still undergoing examination at the local police headquarters.

Then, hundreds of fighters wearing black clothes clashed with residents and damaged residents' houses, and there was a hurling of stones between the residents and the convoy.

"The crowd numbered in the hundreds. It was chaotic last night, throwing stones. 18 of my residents' houses were damaged and one motorbike parked on the side of the road became the victim," said Wahono.

He admitted that he did not know what caused it, and that it was disturbing and disturbing the comfort of the community.
