DPR: IKN Continues, But No Longer Prabowo's Main Project

BALI - Deputy Chairman of Commission XI DPR RI Mohamad Hekal ensured that the development of the capital city of the archipelago (IKN) would continue even though it was not the main priority of President Prabowo Subianto's government.

According to him, the direction of development policies will be more focused on the eight priority programs that Prabowo has presented in his speech.

"Going, (the development of IKN) continues. It's just that maybe not at a speed that might have been heralded in the past," said Hekal when met in Tabanan Regency, Bali, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, August 21.

The eight priority programs in question include food security, energy security, the Free Nutrition Food (MBG) program, quality education, quality health, strengthening the people's economy through the Red and White Village Cooperative, universal defense, and accelerating investment and global trade.

Therefore Hekal emphasized that although it is not a top priority, IKN development will not be stopped.

"Well, other (programs) are not turned off, but still funded. Only we prioritize the eight (priority programs) first," he also said.

As for the 2026 State Budget and Revenue Draft (RAPBN), the Government has allocated a budget of IDR 6.3 trillion for IKN development. This figure was conveyed by Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati during a press conference on the 2026 Financial Note.

"IDR 6.3 trillion for IKN. If I'm not mistaken, I'll correct it again later," said Sri Mulyani, quoted from the RAPBN Press Conference and the 2026 Financial Note, in Jakarta, last Saturday.

Based on Book II of the Financial Note of the 2026 RAPBN, the IKN budget allocation was recorded at IDR 6.26 trillion.

The details are IDR 5.71 trillion for the Strategic Area Development Program, while IDR 553 billion for the Management Support Program.
