JAKARTA - Your wireless mouse maintenance is becoming easier thanks to a new partnership between Logitech and DIY repair specialist, iFixit. The two companies work together to reduce unnecessary electronic waste and help customers repair their own Logitech devices that are already outside the warranty by providing spare parts, batteries, and repair guidance for "certain products."

Everything will be used as one on the iFixit Logitek Repair Hub, with spare parts purchased as needed or in the "Fix Kits" that provide everything necessary to complete repairs, such as tools and set of precision bits.

Starting this summer, the Logitech MX Master and MX ANY mouse models will be the first products to receive parts. Price information has not been disclosed, and Logitech has not mentioned any other devices that will receive replacement parts and original repair guidance from iFixit.

iFixit Logitech Repair Hub already has shelters for various Logitech products

Currently, many Logitech products are already registered in the iFixit Repair Hub, including webcams, keyboards, headphones, Bluetooth speakers, and game peripherals. Some are just in the form of shelters, but others already have guidance on how to repair products, such as battery replacement guidance for Logitech H800 Wireless.

The particular guide was created by members of the iFixit community prior to the partnership between iFixit and Logitech, which is expected to expand to cover more devices soon.

According to a report cited by Logitech, global electronic waste is projected to reach more than 75 million tonnes of metric by 2030, which is exacerbated by high consumption levels and limited fixability options for gadgets. Logitech says they are working against this by encouraging their customers to repair and care for their Logitech devices, thereby avoiding waste.

"Customers often have difficulty finding ways to improve and extend their product life," said Prakash Arunkundrum, Chief Operating Officer at Logitech, seperryti quoted by The Verge.

"There are more things a wider brand and value chain can do that want to play an active role in shifting towards a more circular economy. I am very happy that we can work with iFixit to develop a better design and make it easier for consumers to have their own repair options to extend our product life," he added.

iFixit also works with technology brands such as Google, Samsung, and Valve to create similar self-improvement programs. It is natural to launch Logitech programs with MX Master and MX Anywhere as the two mice are the two most popular products of the company.

The partnership between Logitech and iFixit aims to provide solutions to the growing e-waste problem and provide customers with the ability to repair their own devices. By providing spare parts, batteries, and repair guidance, Logitech hopes to encourage users to improve their products rather than throw them into the final disposal site.

Through this approach, Logitech and iFixit contribute to efforts to create a more circular economy, where electronic products can be managed and improved better, thereby reducing the negative impact on the environment.

It is hoped that this program will be the first step in inspiring other technology companies to adopt a similar approach, providing customers with more options in caring for and improving their own devices.
