JAKARTA - Former Fox News host, Tucker Carlson, who was removed from broadcast by the network last month, announced on Tuesday 9 May that he would re-launch his show on Twitter "soon".

Fox News Media and its best host agreed to separate last month, shortly after its parent company Fox Corp settled a defamation lawsuit of US$787.5 million in which Carlson played an important role.

Carlson was firm on conservative issues and expressed his views in a style that made his primetime show, "Tucker Carlson Tonight," becoming the highest-ranked cable news program in demographics aged 25-54 years on the most popular cable news network in the US. However, after he left, the ratings of the show slumped sharply.

"Starting soon, we'll be bringing a new version of the show we've been doing over the past six and a half years to Twitter," Carlson said in a video posted on Twitter. "We brought a few other things as well, which we'll tell you. But for now, we're just grateful to be here."

Carlson's announcement comes weeks after Twitter owner Elon Musk guested in a two-part interview with Carlson on Fox News.

Musk, who calls himself an "absolutist of free speech," said his goal was to turn Twitter into a "digital town hall" where users can share diverse points of view.

Although Carlson announced plans to reboot the show on social media, Axios reported that his lawyer had sent a letter to Fox accusing the company of fraud and contract violations.

Carlson's lawyer did not respond to a request for comment from Cointelegraph. Fox Corp's spokesman also declined to comment.

Fox's lawyers have asked Dominion Voting Systems' lawyers to investigate whether they leaked a controversial internal message from Carlson that provided evidence in their defamation lawsuit.

The request came after several media outlets reported Carlson's racism and sexism in communications and leaked internal footage.
