JAKARTA - Apple will soon introduce its smart glasses in 2022. This device, called Apple Glass, will provide users with an Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) experience.

Quoting from the MacRumors page, Apple's smart glasses will use an OLED panel made by Sony. The screen panel with a resolution of 1,280x960 with a size of 0.5 inches is claimed to produce sharp image displays.

"Apple plans to pursue the production of AR / VR glasses using Sony's microdisplay technology," said display industry expert Ross Young, as reported by Nikkan Kogyo Shinbun, Friday, October 23.

According to Young's report, the display panel in Apple Glass will have a contrast ratio of 100,000: 1, with a response speed of 0.01ms or less. Meanwhile, the resulting color gamut has high saturation but low reflectance, making it suitable for Apple Glass.

Microdisplays made by Sony also have integrated drivers for a thin and light design, and even support power-saving technology that can make battery life longer.

Meanwhile, according to AppleInsider, the cupertino giant has just registered a patent for the design of its smart glasses. In the document, it is stated that Apple makes electronic devices that can be worn on the head, like glasses.
