Held Celebration During PPKM, Village Head In Banyuwangi Fined Rp. 48 Thousand

BANYUWANGI - Asmuni, the village head of Temuguruh, Asmuni was found guilty in a trial for a minor crime of violating health protocols at the Banyuwangi District Court, East Java.

Asmuni was sentenced to a fine of Rp. 48,000 because he was found guilty of violating PPKM rules for holding a celebration during PPKM.

"For the village head the penalty is a fine of Rp. 48,000 and a court fee of Rp. 2,000," said Public Relations of the Banyuwangi District Court, I Komang Didiek Prayoga when contacted, Monday, July 26.

Article 49 paragraphs (1), (2), and (3), in conjunction with Article 27 c paragraph a or article 27 c letter b East Java Provincial Regulation Number 1 of 2019 concerning the administration of peace, public order, and community protection, in conjunction with Article ( 5) paragraph 1 of the East Java Governor Regulation number 53 of 2020 concerning the application of health care programs during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The evidence in this case are two guest books and one wedding invitation.

Asmuni admitted that he accepted the verdict and apologized to the public.

"I apologize profusely to all parties, this was our mistake," he told reporters.

As previously reported, the video of the celebration at the village office in Banyuwangi has gone viral on social media.

Deputy Chairperson of the Banyuwangi COVID-19 Task Force, Lt. Col. Inf. Yuli Eko Purwanto, said this case set a bad precedent in the midst of efforts to handle and prevent the transmission of COVID-19.

Seen in the video, the reception was held at the village hall complete with a tent and decoration of yellow leaves. Not only that, there were several loudspeakers placed in front of the village hall during the reception.
