JAKARTA - Communities affected by the emergency PPKM such as public transportation drivers, both online motorcycle taxis, public transportation, and AKAP buses, as well as other transportation in Bogor receive assistance from the government. The assistance of 500 food packages was given directly by Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto accompanied by Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi and Bogor Mayor Bima Arya.

The distribution of basic necessities was received symbolically by 10 driver representatives initiated by the Ministry of Transportation, the National Police Traffic Corps, and Jasa Raharja. The assistance was given as a form of solidarity and government attention to drivers of ojol, online taxis, AKAP buses, and other transportation during difficult times due to the COVID-19 pandemic that is still hitting Indonesia.

“I am very happy today to be able to communicate and meet with ojol and public transport colleagues. Thank you to the Mayor of Bogor for facilitating this," said Budi Karya in his statement, Sunday, July 25.

Budi Karya said the assistance could increase the enthusiasm of the drivers to continue to carry out their work to serve the community. He also revealed to ojol drivers (online motorcycle taxis) and public transportation in the city of Bogor regarding the Worker Registration Certificate (STRP) and vaccinations.

The Minister of Transportation explained that the STRP requirements for ojol drivers will not make it difficult for ojol drivers because they have been made collectively by each ojol applicator. Drivers can show the letter when passing through the blocking post and are advised to wear their uniform/attributes so that they can be easily recognized by officers.

"So for ojol drivers and other public transportation in the city of Bogor, we are trying to make it easier for colleagues to continue to work in the midst of this pandemic. Because you have contributed to the movement of the economy in the midst of this difficult situation," said the Minister of Transportation.

The Minister of Transportation also said that he had reported to the Coordinating Minister for the Economy to increase the vaccination ration for public transportation drivers, because the driver as one of the front line transportation services must receive maximum protection.

"We continue to encourage CSR efforts from the Ministry of Transportation, Korlantas Polri, Jasa Raharja, Regional Government, and transportation operators to intensify vaccination activities in the regions, especially for transportation workers," said the Minister of Transportation.

He invited transportation drivers, including ojol, angkot, buses, and other transportation, to remain disciplined in complying with health protocols while on duty, namely by washing hands, wearing masks, keeping a distance and staying away from crowds.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said the government would continue to encourage the acceleration of the delivery of social assistance for the community during this PPKM period.

Airlangga hopes that later this social assistance program will be able to help the community in an effort to contain the spread of COVID-19 and maintain the welfare of the community.

On the same occasion, Bogor Mayor Bima Arya said the local government budget was limited in dealing with the COVID-19 virus pandemic. Mayor Bima Arya appreciated the social assistance provided by the central government and other related parties.
