KENDARI - The Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) of Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) has secured a crocodile with a length of 3.9 meters in Blue Village, Bombana Regency.

The Coordinator of Forest Security (Pamhut) BKSDA Sultra Ashar said that his party only took action after receiving information from residents who had caught a wild crocodile at a rice field irrigation location in Biru Village, East Poleang District.

"We received information from residents on July 19, 2021 and after that we immediately formed an evacuation team on July 21 and went straight to the location where the crocodile was found," he said, quoted by Antara, Thursday, July 22.

Ashar said, a crocodile that had been evacuated was immediately taken to a breeding place in Pomalaa District, Kolaka Regency.

"This morning we immediately took him to the breeding place that had been provided," he said.

The crocodile that has been evacuated is the second largest discovery ever handled and its presence is not only disturbing, but also threatening the safety of residents.

"Capture of crocodiles is the second largest we have handled and where the crocodiles are found, children often play to take a bath, so they are immediately secured so as not to swallow victims," said Ashar.
