East Nusa Tenggara High Prosecutor's Office Runs Out Of Budget To Handle Cases

KUPANG - Head of the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) High Prosecutor's Office, Yulianto, said that his party had run out of budget to handle cases of general crimes and corruption.

"The budget allocated to the NTT High Prosecutor's Office for handling cases has run out, so it becomes our obstacle in handling a number of cases that are being handled by the NTT High Prosecutor's Office", said Yulianto in Kupang, quoted by Antara, Thursday, July 22.

He said the NTT High Prosecutor's Office was combing through a number of district/city State Prosecutors in NTT who still had the remaining budget to be transferred to the NTT High Prosecutor's Office so that the handling of cases at the NTT High Prosecutor's Office could be faster.

"We are combing through the NTT District Attorney's Office, whose case handling budget has not been fully absorbed, so it will be transferred to the NTT High Prosecutor's Office", said Yulianto accompanied by a number of NTT High Prosecutors' officials.

A few weeks ago, the NTT High Prosecutor's Office took a budget of IDR 500 million from the Waiwerang Branch of the District Attorney's Office, East Flores Regency, to support the handling of cases at the NTT High Prosecutor's Office.

"If we continue to take funds from the Attorney General's Office while the absorption of the budget in the regions is still not optimal, it could result in a bad assessment of the NTT Prosecutor's Office", said Yulianto.

According to him, if there is still a State Prosecutor's Office in this island-based province that has not absorbed all the case handling budget due to a shortage of investigators.

"As experienced by the Waiwerang District Attorney's Branch Office, which only has one investigator, it is difficult to handle cases while the case handling a budget of IDR 500 million cannot be absorbed", said Yulianto.
