JAKARTA - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil (Kang Emil) 'raised his hand' with the emergency PPKM social assistance distribution scheme. The West Java Provincial Government's finances are in disarray, so Kang Emil hopes for the central government's help.
“I think some of it goes to me, telling us that we want to obey but we need to be guaranteed. The emergency PPKM social assistance came from the central government. Frankly, West Java was not able to afford it because we lost Rp5 trillion," said Ridwan Kamil in the Mata Najwa program quoted from Najwa Shihab's Youtube, Thursday, July 15.
According to Kang Emil, of the Rp5 trillion budget, 3 trillion of which was distributed for social assistance and others.
"Now that the money is gone, we really (when) emergency PPKM rely on the central government," he said.
According to him, the central government only guarantees the emergency PPKM social assistance allocated for 4-5 million heads of families. This is very different from the conditions in 2020 where around 60 percent of the 50 million families were given social assistance.
"If 4-5 million families are only 10 percent, that's why we understand the financial difficulties and hope that we will be disciplined so that the emergency PPKM is not extended," said Kang Emil.
Kang Emil himself has the term 3S to describe the current conditions in the midst of the rapid spread of COVID-19. The first S is 'sad' because it is an emergency, especially the number of patients in the hospital.
“The second S is patient in educating, dealing with dynamics, I try to be patient every night. Finally, the spirit, with an atmosphere like this, the leader cannot be broken, he cannot be weak," said Kang Emil.
