Deputy Minister Of Home Affairs Bima Arya Reveals That Integrative World Quality Leaders Are Needed

JAKARTA - Indonesian Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri) Bima Arya Sugiarto said that world-quality leaders are needed to integrate local wisdom with multidimensional capabilities in realizing Indonesia Gold in the future.

"A world-quality leader with local wisdom, has multidimensional capabilities, represents all interests, has the capacity as a solidarity maker and administrator," Bima said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, December 14.

Bima said that Indonesia faces great challenges in preparing future generations such as Gen Z and millennials to become future leaders, such as regents, mayors, governors, and ministers.

Related to this, he also assessed that the lack of space for regeneration of the younger generation could risk hampering efforts to utilize demographic bonuses in achieving the vision of Indonesia Gold.

For this reason, Bima said, with ambitious targets set, effective regeneration is an urgent need for the nation's future.

"Ladies and gentlemen, whom I respect, we will see that our steps today really determine the stages of Indonesia Gold. ICMI actually has room to be able to build the stages of leadership regeneration," he said.

He also emphasized that the crater of the candradimuka for national leadership could originally come from any area, both those who are studying at home and abroad.

However, he stressed how to ensure that foreign graduates can be prepared to become cadres with character, faith and piety, and have the ability to become Indonesian leaders in the future.

Every time I go abroad I always try to have a dialogue with our children abroad. Many of them when they go home fight alone. Some don't go home because they think the Indonesian ecosystem is not ready," he said.

The former mayor of Bogor emphasized that the preparation of character leaders is an urgent need for the future of the nation. Although many leaders are visionary and competent, he mentioned that not a few leaders are still oriented towards personal interests.

He also assessed that the Indonesian Muslim Cendekiawan Association (ICMI) has a capable ability to create characterized regeneration of leaders.

Bima hopes that organizations like ICMI have an important role in creating characterized regeneration of leaders. This is to produce leaders with strong character and qualified competence to advance the country.

We can achieve Indonesia gold not only on paper but also how seriously we can (prepare) leaders. Gen Z, Gen X today, today's millennial genes are regents, mayors, our ministers, our president in 2045. Let's prepare together," he said.
