Passenger's Stomach Detection Is Plastic Lacried At The Port, Tanjungpinang Customs And Excise Secures 1 Kg Of Crystal Methamphetamine

The Tanjungpinang Customs and Excise Team thwarted an attempt to smuggle suspected 1 kilogram (kg) of methamphetamine at Sri Bayintan Kijang Port, Bintan Regency, Riau Islands Province (Kepri).

Head of the Tanjungpinang Customs Office, Tri Hartana, said that the disclosure of the drug case took place on Saturday, March 9, at around 20.00 WIB.

"This started when our team was monitoring passengers' belongings at Sri Bayintan Kijang Port, profiling prospective passengers on the Bukit Raya ship on the Kijang-Blinyu-Tanjung Priok route," Tri said at a press conference in Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands, Thursday, March 14, which was confiscated by Antara.

According to him, the Customs and Excise team conducted an inspection of passenger luggage and body checks alias body tapping of a passenger with the initials F bound for Tanjung Priok, Jakarta, who was suspected of carrying illegal goods.

From the results of the examination, he said, it was found that a large plastic package was wrapped around the abdomen and embedded with clear duct tape.

After an in-depth examination, three packs of white powder were found with a gross weight of 1,057 grams or more than one kilogram. Then, the team identified the item and there were initial indications in the form of methampetamine (shabu).

"In this active case, Tanjungpinang Customs and Excise coordinates and synergizes with the Special DJBC Regional Office for Riau Islands and the Bintan Police," said Tri.

Tri conveyed that based on these findings, Tanjungpinang Customs and Excise took action, affirmation and handover of perpetrators and goods suspected of having methamphetamine to the Bintan Police Narcotics Unit.

He emphasized that the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, especially Tanjungpinang Customs and Excise together with other law enforcement officers are committed to continuing to protect the Indonesian people from the income, circulation and abuse of narcotics, psychotropics and precursors.

"We also urge the public to always keep themselves away from the dangers of drugs for the next generation of the Indonesian nation who are healthy for a better future," said Tri.

Meanwhile, the Head of Narcotics at the Bintan Police, Iptu Sofyan, stated that perpetrator F acted as a courier to deliver the suspected type of methamphetamine from Batam to Jakarta via Bintan Island.

"The perpetrator is an Acehnese. He gets a salary of Rp. 30 million if he manages to deliver the drugs to his destination," said Iptu Sofyan.
