MAKASSAR - The Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) is currently compiling data on the Thematic Election Insecurity Index (IKP) for Social Media which is considered to be a threat in the 2024 Simultaneous Elections.
"Currently we are compiling an Insecurity Index for the 2024 Thematic Social Media Election, including its political polarization. Just wait, it will be launched this year," said Bawaslu member Lolly Suhenty in Makassar, South Sulawesi, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 24.
According to him, the potential for vulnerabilities in the 2024 General Election can occur from various aspects, one of which comes from social media. For this reason, his party is taking quick and appropriate steps to anticipate this potential.
"Why thematic because based on Bawaslu's analysis, it's one that threatens the 2024 General Election," he said.
One of the efforts made by Bawaslu in the context of prevention is to map out areas that are vulnerable in the 2024 General Election.
"We are making an Insecurity Index for the 2024 Election so that we have the alertness to face the situations that may occur in 2024. One of them is hoaxes on social media," said Lolly, who serves as the Division of Public Relations and Inter-Institutional Relations of the Indonesian Bawaslu.
Regarding the surveillance model through the Democracy Awareness Movement (Grasi) in South Sulawesi, he said, it was important because of the initiative to move and be born to a participatory supervisor.
"The duration of one of the breakthroughs of the South Sulawesi Bawaslu is that if it can be implemented with a wider range and more innovation, it will be able to block more potential vulnerabilities in South Sulawesi," said Lolly.
Previously, Bawaslu launched IKP for the 2024 Simultaneous Elections and Elections. Bawaslu even mapped the potential for vulnerability in 34 provinces and 514 districts and cities throughout Indonesia at the IKP.
The IKP revealed several categories of provinces with high, moderate, and low risk. For high-prone categories, namely Jakarta with a score of 88.95, North Sulawesi (87.48), North Maluku (84.86), West Java (77.04), and East Kalimantan (77.04).
For moderately vulnerable categories, there are 21 provinces, including Banten (66.53), Lampung (64.61), Riau (62.59), Papua (57.27), and East Nusa Tenggara (56.75). A total of eight provinces are categorized as low, including North Kalimantan (20.36), Central Kalimantan (18.77), East Java (14.74).
