JAKARTA - Jakarta Formula E International Circuit Designer (JIEC) Irawan Sucahyono revealed how to keep road asphalt smooth as expected by the International Automobile Federation (FIA).

Irawan said that the road asphalt traversed by heavy vehicles would require repairs. JIEC, who is in the process of preparing for Formula E Jakarta 2023, will also be crossed by heavy trucks.

However, asphalt repairs should not just be patched (coated with damaged parts with new asphalt) because that method reduces the level of smoothness.

"The right way, the asphalt must be dredged first and then repaved on the piece that was dredged," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, May 9.

This will make asphalt safer for vehicles that pass quickly, such as when there is a race.

In repairing the asphalt of the Jakarta Formula E International Circuit, Irawan checked the corner. "Because the bend is very important in every race," he said.

Bending is the part that most often slips between vehicles. Therefore, this section is important to pay attention to the asphalt smoothness.

As far as Irawan's observations are concerned, the JIEC corner is still good and the repair rate is still minor.

Director of the 2023 Jakarta Formula E Project, Ivan Permana, said that the JIEC is sure to be ready for use on June 3-4.

Ivan even claimed that the construction for the second international event was held in the Taman Impian Jaya Ancol area, North Jakarta, was earlier than the predetermined schedule.

According to him, the condition of this year's Formula E circuit track is not much different from last year's conditions. All corners are believed to be still in good condition and there is only one paving point that needs to be done to increase their resilience.

In addition to asphalting, currently a number of workers are installing instalai (pavingbloc) and the roof of the tribune which is targeted to be completed this week.

Ivan ensured that this other construction would be accelerated so that Formula E Jakarta 2023 would continue to run according to the international electric car racing calendar.

"Our target is completed this week. Well, there are also buildings, later for (the purchaser) of VIP tickets there are tents that have been built. That's the target for May 22, 2023, it's finished and it's not late, that's the target," said Ivan.

The Jakarta Formula E International Circuit Tribune (grandstand) at Taman Impian Jaya Ancol, Pademangan, North Jakarta, is ready to accommodate up to 12,000 spectators.

The Formula E Jakarta organizing committee has also prepared tickets for festival classes or standing tickets which are also limited to 8,500 people. The estimated overall capacity of the Jakarta Formula E international circuit in Ancol reached 40,000 people.
