SIAK - The Riau Province Conservation and Natural Resources Center followed up on a report from a resident of Kampung Rempak Village, Siak Regency who claimed to have seen a Sumatran tiger.

Head of BBKSDA Riau Genman Hasibuan said the team received information that there were people who met directly with tiger animals in his garden on Jalan Pesantren.

The team immediately rushed to the scene and moved the trap cage that had been installed at the previous location.

"The team moved one trap cage to the location where Sumatran tigers appeared after Friday," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, May 5.

He said the people who met the Sumatran tiger were Ujang (46). He met the "forest island" on Thursday at around 08.15 WIB.

At that time, Ujang was carrying out activities at the mouth of the palm oil chief, seeing the appearance of the Sumatran tiger. Based on his information, the height of the animal as young as an adult is passing into the rubber forest.

"The place of appearance not far from yesterday's location found traces. At the location, traces resembling the traces of the Sumatran tiger with a size of approximately 13 centimeters were also found," he said.

Furthermore, the team conducted monitoring using unmanned aircraft to obtain aerial photos, to review the animal's trajectory. However, based on air photos, the forest is too tight to review the track.

In addition, the team conducted socialization to the public to be careful about activities around the scene and not to carry out activities outside the home alone. The active time of the tiger is in the afternoon until the morning.

The appearance of tigers in Siak is known to have occurred in the past two weeks, even the first appearance resulted in the death of a resident on behalf of Andi Sukerman.

The Riau Province's Center for Conservation and Natural Resources has installed cages and camera traps twice on Saturday (22/4) and Wednesday 26 April. With goat bait to date, the tiger has not been caught in a trap so one of the trap cages was moved to the location of residents who saw the animal recently.
