JAKARTA - Secretary General of the United Development Party (PPP) Arsul Sani assessed that Suharso Monoarfa's report to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for using a private charter plane was far-fetched.

This was conveyed by Arsul in response to a report from PPP Expert Council member Nizar Dahlan which was delivered on Thursday, November 5.

"The gratification report made by Nizar Dahlan was fabricated and showed that he did not understand the provisions of gratuities that should be reported to the KPK as stipulated in Article 12B of Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption Crime ( Tipikor), "said Arsul in a written statement to reporters, Friday, November 6.

The Deputy Chairman of the MPR RI also emphasized that the Minister of Planning and Development / Head of Bappenas did not accept gratuities. This is because the plane that Suharso and a number of party officials boarded was not in their capacity as public officials.

"The plane we rode in was in our capacity as PPP administrators. It has nothing to do with the position of minister and member of the DPR," he said.

"Second, we boarded the plane as party administrators not as state administrators. It can be seen from the activities we carried out at the destination," added Arsul.

He said Suharso and himself and a number of PPP officials in Aceh and Padang, West Sumatra, carried out socialization and explained party congress activities to be held in Makassar City. According to him, this group used the plane not for free but also paid for a number of things, including paying for the purchase of aviation fuel.

"As PPP administrators, we pay the cost of using aircraft such as aviation fuel, flight crew, and others," he said.

Previously reported, the KPK confirmed a report to the Minister of Planning and Development / Head of Bappenas Suharso Monoarfa because he allegedly received assistance in the form of charter planes. The public was received by the KPK on Thursday, November 5.

"Based on the information we received, it is true that there is a report in question," said Acting KPK spokesman Ali Fikri in a written statement, Friday, November 6.

He said the reporting to the Acting Chairman of the United Development Party (PPP) would be further analyzed. In addition, the data included in the report will be verified.

"Furthermore, there will be a review and study of the information and data," he said.

If from the results of analysis, verification, to review and study there are indications of a criminal incident, the KPK will take the next steps as regulated in the legal process.

It is known that Suharso received the spotlight from his own cadre, namely PPP Expert Council member Nizar Dahlan because he was caught chartering a private airplane. He questioned the origin of the funds used to charter the private plane because of course the price was not cheap.

"People are screaming in poverty and hunger, Plt. Ketum is instead using a private jet for consolidation," said Nizar some time ago.
