JAKARTA - Guitarist Trey Azagthoth was dehydrated and suffered a back injury when he fainted in the middle of Angel's Morbid concert on Friday night in Tampa, Florida.

The video of the incident occurred when Morbid Angel performed his fifth song at The Orpheum which is Azagthoth's hometown.

The 58-year-old musician is still trying to keep standing before being helped backstage by several roadies.

After a short break, Morbid Angel's bassist/vocalist Steve Tucker told the audience that the guitarist whose real name is George Emmanuel III was injured.

They performed one more song without Azagthoth and then ended the show.

"I think we're going to end tonight, man," Steve told the crowd. "Without a leader... I'm sorry. I love you all. Thank you for coming. Hope Trey is fine. See you soon, man. Good night."

The next day, Saturday, Azagthoth's mother, Janell Fulghum Emmanuel, shared the following post on her Facebook page:

"I want to thank you for all your good prayers for my son, Trey. Apparently, Trey was completely dehydrated. The problem with his back was because he slipped down the stairs of the bus and hit his back on one of the stairs.

"They have decided to continue and hold a show tonight. And I just hope and pray that everything goes well.

"I got a message from Dan [Vadim Von, guitarist Morbid Angel], he said that Trey was resting last night and woke up and seemed ready.

"I will continue to watch whatever I can find about tonight. When he comes home tomorrow, I know he needs to rest, but also needs medical help.

"Once again, thank you very much for your attention. He loves his fans."

Tampa's show is part of Morbid Angel's "United States Tour Of Terror" which was scheduled to end on April 22 yesterday at Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Morbid Angel started his US 2023 tour on March 15 at Vinyl Music Hall in Pensacola, Florida. This trip marks the band's first time with drummer Charlie Koryn, who previously played with Ascended Dead, Institution, Funebrarum, and Skeletal Remains.
