Mercedes-Benz Announces Recall For S-Class In India, Here's Why

JAKARTA - Bad news comes to Mercedes-Benz. The reason is, the current generation S-Class model must go through a recall program in India.

According to an Autocar India report on Sunday, December 15, Mercedes-Benz India must issue a withdrawal for the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class unit that has been on sale in the country since 2021.

The report explains that this recall was triggered by software on the luxury sedan's Engine Control Unit (ECU) system which may not meet the current specifications.

Problems with this ECU software can cause an increase in temperature on exhaust gases, so it can risk damaging components such as a series of engine cables and catalytic converters.

With this damage, this has the potential to cause a sudden loss of propulsion and increase the possibility of the vehicle experiencing a fire.

The affected vehicles amounted to 386 units of Mercedes-Maybach S-Class produced between April 29, 2021, to January 27, 2024, and one S-Class unit was produced on April 21, 2021.

As is usually the case, the premium automotive manufacturer from Germany is expected to contact the owners of the affected units to schedule a meeting agreement and fix the issue free of charge or free of charge.

This also adds to the series of recall lists involving the Mercedes-Benz model globally. Previously, the brand nicknamed the three-point star' had to pull back the C-Class model in Australia which was caused by side airbag problems.

The German automotive manufacturer revealed that a series of airbag cables on the driver's side and passengers have the potential to be damaged due to the operation of armchair clothing so that it interferes with the operation of side airbags installed in seats.

Mercedes-Benz appealed to vehicle owners to contact the dealer to make repairs as soon as possible free of charge.
