Replace Elfa Secioria As Music Director, Sherina Munaf: I Feel Very Appreciated

JAKARTA - Sherina's Adventure Film, which aired in 2000, is known as one of the best Indonesian films with background music and original soundtrack (OST). Indonesian music legend Elfa Secioria is an important figure behind the production of music and songs in the film.

Continuing 23 years later, Sherina 2's adventure comes with a new music director. Sherina Munaf in addition to being the main character was also lined up to replace Elfa Secioria who died in 2011.

Sherina, who in fact studied music from Elfa Secioria, admitted that she panicked when she was offered a music director position. However, the wife of Baskara Mahendra also felt very appreciated as a direct student of the legend.

First, given the trust to become a music director, I am very panicked and nervous. With my musical ability that is not comparable to Om Elfa, I feel very appreciated," said Sherina Munaf during a press conference at Plaza Senayan, Central Jakarta on Wednesday, June 14.

Although the position of music director can be said to be new to him, Sherina believes she can give her best. Back to remembering Elfa Secioria, he hopes his teacher is proud of what he is currently doing.

This project makes me very special. So remember when I was little I was with Om Elfa around the mall. If there is Om Elfa, I'm sure he is proud," said Sherina.

Vera Sylviana Yachya, the wife of the late Elfa Secioria who was present at the press conference, praised Sherina's efforts to play her role as music director. Sherina admitted that she has been talented in music since childhood.

"I'm proud and happy too. What Sherina did on Sherina's Adventure 2, the music was crazy," said Vera.

As a music director, Sherina worked on all the music on Sherina's Adventure 2, both the OST and background music. But he didn't work alone, Mira Lesmana was one of the people who helped write the lyrics, even her father, Triawan Munaf helped when creating music scores.

"For our family, this is an extraordinary journey. I didn't expect this to be made again. Sherina worked very hard when making music, until she didn't take a shower. Yes, I'm happy we can still work. We present this film to the people of Indonesia," concluded Triawan Munaf, Sherina Munaf's father.
