Viral Doctors In NTB Accused Of 'Coviding' Patients, NTB Health Office Denies

MATARAM - The Head of the West Nusa Tenggara Health Service, Dr. Lalu Hamzi Fikri, denied reports that a doctor or hospital had intentionally infected his patient.

"I emphasize that there are no hospitals or doctors and health workers who have tested positive for Covid-19 patients. There is no such thing," said Hamzi Fikri, after a coordination meeting on the evaluation of COVID-19 management at the NTB Governor's office in Mataram, quoted by Antara, Monday, July 26.

Hamzi admitted, currently the number of COVID-19 patients in NTB continues to show an increase. It's just that, he said, there are not the slightest doctors or hospitals who hope that COVID-19 patients will continue to grow.

In fact, health workers pray that the number of patients does not continue to increase and the COVID-19 pandemic ends soon.

"In fact, we don't want the hospital to be full, even we health workers pray that the number of patients does not continue to grow. Our desire for the last two years is the same, how to get out of the COVID-19 pandemic," said Hamzi.

According to him, at this time the most important thing is that people follow the advice to be disciplined in implementing health protocols in daily life, so that they can suppress the spread of COVID-19.

"The cooperation of all parties is needed, especially from upstream how we both apply health protocols and avoid crowds to prevent the spread of COVID-19," he said.

Previously viral on social media, a resident scolded a nurse at the Janapria Health Center, Central Lombok, Saturday, July 24, for refusing to receive a medical referral from his parents who were diagnosed with COVID-19 to the Praya Hospital for special treatment.

The Janapria Police Chief Iptu H Muhdar along with several members who were present at the Janapria Health Center calmed the residents who refused the swab results and a referral to the Praya Hospital.

"The exposed resident has the initials K (69), from Prako village, Janapria. The patient entered the health center for treatment last Saturday because he had complaints of fever for four days, diarrhea, vomiting and coughing," said H Muhdar, Sunday, July 25 night. .

After medical treatment and an antigen swab, the patient was confirmed positive for COVID-19. Moments later, the patient's biological son, Khairul Fikri, arrived. He came angrily to the doctor or nurse at the health center.

"Khairul Fikri showed an attitude of refusal and concluded that the results of the medical examination at the Janapria Health Center could not be trusted and seemed artificial or too quick to convict the patient to be exposed to COVID-19," he said.

It was said that at that time the medical person in charge of the Janapria Health Center, namely dr. Putu, has explained that medical action is accurate based on medical instructions and tools used by the government and this job is at stake with the position and the medical profession.

"Doctor Putu explained to the residents that patients who are indicated to be exposed to COVID-19 who have congenital diseases are expected to be treated in a special room and special treatment, while OTG can undergo independent isolation at home," he said.

Seeing the residents' emotions, his party tried to neutralize the situation and calm the residents who refused their parents to be referred to the Praya Hospital.

"Because the patient's family refused a referral, the Janapria Health Center finally gave a letter of refusal of medical action signed by the person concerned and fully responsible for the risks to the patient or the environment," said the police chief.
