Just Fleeed For A Few Days, Convicts In Aceh Surrendered
JAKARTA - An inmate of the Blangpidie Penitentiary (Lapas) in Southwest Aceh Regency, who previously escaped, finally turned himself in to the police station.
Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Aceh Province, Meurah Budiman, said that the inmate who surrendered was on behalf of Stefan.
"The person concerned handed over at the Banda Raya Police Office, Banda Aceh, on Tuesday, July 20, or to coincide with Eid al-Adha. The person concerned fled with eight other inmates," said Meurah Budiman in Banda Aceh, as reported by Antara, Thursday, July 22.
Meurah Budiman said the inmate who gave himself up was a drug convict with a sentence of seven years in prison. He has just served two years in prison.
The remaining sentence that the inmate must serve is five years in prison, said the former Head of the Correctional Division of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) of Central Java Province.
"Currently, the convicts who surrendered are already in Blangpidie Prison after being picked up by prison officials under a tight guard by the Southwest Aceh police," said Meurah Budiman. 17.30 WIB, escaped by destroying the iron bars of the windows of the prison hall.
Before escaping, the inmate also stabbed a prison officer and was treated at the Tengku Peukan Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in Susoh, Southwest Aceh Regency.
Of the nine escaped convicts, one of them was arrested when he was about to run into the forest and hills area around the Blangpidie Prison.
"Against the seven other escaped convicts, they are still being chased. Their photos have been distributed to the police station of their origin," said Meurah Budiman.
