KPK Chairman Firli: The AGO's Participation And Synergy Is Absolute Required
JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri said the anti-corruption commission needed participation and synergy with the Attorney General's Office.
According to him, the KPK cannot stand alone in carrying out its duties and obligations in accordance with applicable laws and regulations to eradicate corruption in the country.
"The participation and synergy of all anti-corruption nation exponents, especially law enforcement agencies, one of which is the Adhyaksa Corps is absolutely needed by the KPK," Firli said in a written statement to commemorate the 61st Adhyaksa Bakti Day, Thursday, July 22.
The Prosecutor's Office, which controls the case process, has a central role in enforcing the law. This is because only the Adhyaksa Corps can determine whether a case is brought to court based on valid evidence according to the criminal procedure law.
"We are very grateful that since the beginning of the KPK, the Attorney General of the Republic of Indonesia has sent the best sons and daughters who animate the spirit of Trapsila Adhyaksa, to go forward with KPK people and all elements of the anti-corruption nation in the fight against corruption and corrupt behavior," said Firli. The KPK said that the people of the Attorney General's Office would certainly work professionally and maintain their dignity wherever they served, including in the anti-corruption commission.
Firli also mentioned that there have been many prosecutors at the KPK who have come forward in handling corruption cases and have never given up. Even though this white-collar crime is full of risks not only for them but also for their families at home.
Furthermore, he also appreciated the celebration of the Adhyaksa Bhakti Day which was filled with anti-corruption actions such as the signing of an integrity pact and commitment with the Prosecutor's Office towards the 2021 Clean and Serving Bureaucracy Region (WBBM) in various regions.
"This clearly shows the totality of the Adhyaksa Corps' dedication to the Republic of Indonesia with an anti-corruption spirit to jointly improve the life of the nation in this country, which we must admit is still overshadowed by latent corruption," he concluded.
