Minister Of Religion Yaqut: Vaccination Against COVID-19 Is An Elaboration Of Religious Teachings
JAKARTA - Minister of Religion (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Choumas asked the entire community to participate in vaccination. Because, he said the current COVID-19 vaccination program included carrying out religious teachings.
"This vaccination program is an elaboration of religious teachings, if we want to dig deeper," Yaqut said on the Presidential Secretariat's Youtube video, Thursday, July 22.
According to Yaqut, every religious person is obliged to maintain the continuity of life as the greatest gift of God. He said, preserving life is the most noble step so that we can always glorify God longer during our lives.
Vaccination is one way to maintain survival because it can minimize the bad risks that will be experienced when contracting COVID-19.
"So, the vaccination program that is being run by the government is in line with our religion to maintain the sustainability of life," he said.
As of July 21, there were 42,611,602 people who had received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 16,606,675 of the second dose of vaccination. Meanwhile, the target for vaccination in Indonesia is 208,265,720 people.
Furthermore, Yaqut asked the public to continue to follow the health protocols even though the vaccination program has been running. Moreover, the government is currently still implementing the PPKM Level 4 and Level 3 policies until July 25.
"This policy is a form of sacrifice and a difficult choice that needs to be supported for the common good. This difficult choice is only to save the wider community," said Yaqut.
"To people who are in PPKM Level 4 and 3 zones, red or orange zones, we continue to invite them to carry out activities and worship at home for a while until the situation allows all of us to move," he continued.
